Daimler Lastwagen 1908
Am 1. Oktober 1896 baute Gottlieb Daimler, Begründer der Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft, in Cannstatt bei Stuttgart den ersten motorisierten Lastwagen mit Namen „Phönix“.
Dieser hatte eine Nutzlast von 1,5 Tonnen, einen 2-Zylinder-Viertaktmotor mit 1,06 Liter Hubraum und eine Leistung von 4 PS, der eine Höchstgeschwindigkeit von 16 km/h erlaubte. Der Lkw kostete 4.600 Goldmark und wurde nach London verkauft. Weitere Lkw-Typen mit bis zu 10 PS und bis zu 5 Tonnen Nutzlast folgten. Es wurden auch motorisierte Feuerspritzen, eine fahrbare Säge- und Spalt-Maschine mit Daimler-Motor, ein Beleuchtungswagen sowie Daimler-Lokomobile zusammen mit Wilhelm Maybach entwickelt und gebaut.
Ebenfalls bereits in der Frühzeit des Lastwagenbaus aktiv war ein weiterer „Vater“ des Automobils, Carl Benz. Nachdem er bereits 1895 einen Motoromnibus konstruiert hatte, stellte er im Jahr 1900 den ersten eigenen Lastwagen vor.
